Introduction to Spain
The Spanish passion for living is deliciously contagious
Although widely known for Flamenco music and dance, bull-fights, fantastic beaches and lots of sunshine, Spain has much more to offer. It is – and has been for thousands of years – one of the cultural centres of Europe. It has beautiful cities and towns, offering ancient monuments as well as futuristic architecture. Narrow, twisting old streets suddenly open out to views of daring modern architecture, while spit and sawdust bars serving wine from the barrel rub shoulders with sophisticated hotels and restaurants.
Its various regions are all different to one another, geographically, climatically and even in personality.
Travel is easy, accommodation plentiful, the climate benign, the people relaxed, the beaches long and sandy, the food and drink fresh, reasonably priced and full of regional variety.
